Track & Field Competes at Pat Ryan Invitational
The Diablo Valley track and field teams turned in several strong performances at the Pat Ryan Invitational hosted by Santa Rosa Junior College on March 13. The Vikings saw standout results on the women's side, highlighted by Stephanie Vonjtenyi, who captured first place in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.11), and the 4x100-meter relay team, which also took first place with a time of 50.37. In the field events, Sydney Kane earned a second-place finish in the discus (126-4.5), while Sophia Gonzalez led the Viking sprinters with a 9th-place finish in the 100 meters (12.98).
On the men's side, Paolo Morales delivered a podium performance with a third-place finish in the 5000 meters (16:12.86). The 4x400-meter relay team also claimed first place with a time of 3:20.76, highlighting a strong day for the Vikings' relay squads. Additional top-10 performances included Ryan Christy in the 400 meters (9th, 50.38), Luka Afonine in the 800 meters (9th, 2:00.50), and Davion Johnson, who finished 5th in the 110-meter hurdles (16.23). The Vikings continue to build momentum as they progress through the outdoor season.
