Track & Field post multiple top-five finishes at Lobo Invitational

Diablo Valley College Track & Field delivered several standout performances at the Lobo Invitational on Feb. 14, highlighted by a victory in the throws and multiple top-three finishes in the field events.
Women's Highlights
Sydney Kane led the way with a first-place finish in the discus (120-7.24). She also added points in the shot put, placing 7th (34-0.27). Teammate Maleisha Everfield took 7th in the discus (96-9.42).
On the track, Stephanie Vonjtenyi placed 7th in the 400 (1:05.85) and 10th in the 200 (28.07), while Nyah Thornton finished 8th in the 400 (1:06.40) and 9th in the 200 (27.94). Anaya Russell-Cobb added a 6th-place finish in the 100 hurdles (18.22). In the distance events, Tiana Holmes placed 7th in the 800 (2:46.89).
Men's Highlights
The Vikings were strong in the field events, led by Grady Wachob's 3rd-place clearance in the high jump (6-0.83). Mardell Taylor earned 3rd in the triple jump (41-5.24), and Wachob doubled back for 6th in the triple jump (39-6.41). Jesse Lopez added a 5th-place finish in the discus (118-10.38).
On the track, Dominick Andrade paced DVC in the 400 with a 5th-place finish (51.84), followed closely by Luka Afonine in 6th (51.86) and Mythias Fisher in 7th (52.57). Peyton Schlader led the sprint group with a 9th-place finish in the 200 (22.94). In the distance races, Paolo Morales placed 7th in the 1500 (4:31.49), while Dominic Cataldo finished 10th in the 3000 (10:11.80).
