2026 DVC Softball Season Preview
The Diablo Valley College softball team is set to open the 2026 season with a full and competitive slate, featuring 32 games against a mix of regional opponents, PrimeTime matchups, and Big 8 Conference foes. With nearly two-thirds of the schedule played at home, the Vikings will look to take advantage of Viking Field as they navigate a demanding spring.
DVC opens the season on February 5 with a home doubleheader against Chabot, followed by another home twin bill versus Lassen on February 14. These early matchups provide an opportunity for the Vikings to settle into game rhythm before conference play begins. Additional nonconference tests against Butte, Sierra, and American River are sprinkled throughout the schedule, offering valuable preparation against varied competition.
Big 8 Conference play kicks off on February 21 with a home doubleheader against San Joaquin Delta, setting the tone for a stretch-heavy portion of the season. The Vikings will face familiar conference rivals including Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake, Modesto, Santa Rosa, and Sacramento City, with most series played in doubleheader format. These matchups will be key as DVC works through the standings and builds momentum heading into April.
The Vikings will be tested on the road with conference trips to Folsom Lake, Santa Rosa, Cosumnes River, and Sacramento City. PrimeTime contests against American River highlight the midseason schedule and serve as important measuring sticks as postseason positioning begins to take shape.
April features a balanced mix of home and away games, including rematches against conference opponents and a season-ending road doubleheader at Chabot on April 18. The final weeks will be critical as the Vikings look to finish strong and carry momentum into the postseason conversation.
With a schedule that blends early-season preparation, conference intensity, and late-season opportunity, DVC softball enters 2026 ready for a competitive and growth-focused spring.
