Men's Basketball Wins Consolation Bracket at Shasta Tournament

The DVC Men's Basketball team competed in the Shasta Tourbament, November 17-19th, where they were the champions of the Consolation bracket. The Vikings opened the tourament agaisnt Foothill College. The Owls defeated the Vikings 70-67 in a close back and fourth game. Vikings trailed by 5 at the half, and outsocred the owls by 2 in the 2nd half but it wasn't enough to finish with the W. Victor Mijas led the Vikes with 17 points, he was 7-11 from the floor with 3-three's. He finished the game with 5 total rebounds and 3 assists. Ben Wood finished with 16 points, he was 5-12 from the floor with 2 three's. Wood also finished with 8 total rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

In game 2 of the Shasta Tournament, the Vikings defeated Siskiyous, 79-64. DVC led by six at the half and kept the momentum going in the 2nd half, outscoring the Eagles by 9 to finish the game. Victor Mijas led the Vikings with 16 points, he was 6-12 from the floor and finished with 4 three's behind the arch and 4 assists. Demarre Walker finished with 15 points, he was 5-13 from the floor. Walker hit 3 three's on the night and finished with 2 rebounds and 5 assists. Ben Wood finished the game with all 15 of his points coming from behind the arch, he was 5-8 from three point range. Wood finished with 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Brandynn Manning had an impressive game for the Vikes as well, finishing with 10 points, 5 of those points coming from the line. He also finished the game with 4 assists.

DVC faced Merritt College in the Consolation Bracket Championship Game, defeating the Thunderbirds, 74-69. The game was back and fourth from beginning to end, with the Vikes narrowly defeating Merritt by 5. Demarre Walker led the Vikings with 17 points, he was 6-14 from the floor with 1 three and 5 points from the line. Ben Wood finished the game with 12 points, he was 5-11 from the floor with 2 three's and 13 defensive rebounds. Wood also recorded 3 assists and 2 steals on the night. Brandynn Manning finished with 10 points for the Vikings and was 5-10 from the floor with 3 assists.
