Women finish 1st, Men 2nd at Jack Flanagan Viking Invitational
Diablo Valley College captured 1st place on the women's side at the Jack Flanagan Viking Invitational, delivering a strong all-around performance highlighted by multiple event wins and scoring depth across the lineup. The Vikings were led by standout swims from Evalinne Vecchio and Mia DeLuca, while several athletes added podium finishes and key scoring placements throughout the meet.
Key highlights included:
• Evalinne Vecchio won three events — 50 Free (25.94), 100 Free (56.03), and 100 Back (1:01.47) — leading the Vikings' sprint group.
• Mia DeLuca swept the breaststroke events with victories in the 100 Breast (1:10.57) and 200 Breast (2:33.38).
• Emmi Ng added another individual title with a strong swim in the 100 Fly (1:06.48).
• Rilie Bennett earned a win in the 200 Fly (2:42.95) and contributed additional points with a top-five finish in the 200 Free.
• Frida Avalos Paz provided key scoring with runner-up finishes in the 100 Free (58.29) and 100 IM (1:06.24), along with a third-place finish in the 100 Breast (1:14.96).
• Additional scoring depth came from Chloe Pappas (2nd in 50 Free, 2nd in 200 Free), Supitcha Phoonpirom (3rd in 100 IM, 3rd in 500 Free), and Brianna Smyth (2nd in 100 Back) as DVC placed swimmers across multiple finals to secure the team victory.
Diablo Valley College's men's team also delivered a strong showing at the Jack Flanagan Viking Invitational, highlighted by multiple individual event wins, podium finishes, and scoring depth throughout the lineup. The Vikings were led by standout performances from Ray Fitch, Daniel Lewis, and Joe Greer while numerous swimmers contributed key points across sprint, stroke, and distance events.
Key highlights included:
• Ray Fitch won the 50 Free (21.47) and 100 Fly (52.56) while also contributing additional points in the 100 Back.
• Daniel Lewis captured two victories in the 200 IM (2:05.21) and 200 Fly (2:08.90), and added a third-place finish in the 50 Free.
• Petros Lewis earned a win in the 200 Free (1:54.70) and added points in the 200 Fly.
• Joe Greer recorded runner-up finishes in both the 100 Free (48.41) and 50 Free (21.77) along with a second-place finish in the 100 Fly (54.59).
• Apollo Bocalan placed second in the 200 Breast (2:23.30) and scored again in the 100 Breast and distance freestyle events.
• Additional scoring depth came from Evan Sonoda (4th in 100 IM, 3rd in 200 Back), Isaiah Warner (3rd in 100 Fly), Niko Tzorbatzakis (4th in 100 Free), and Alessandro Carino (4th in 200 Free) as DVC placed swimmers across multiple finals to support the team's overall performance.
