Football jumps to No. 6 in 3C2A Poll after big win at Redwoods
Diablo Valley 54, Redwoods 28
The Diablo Valley Vikings stayed undefeated on the season (3-0) with an explosive 54–28 road victory over the College of the Redwoods on Saturday afternoon in Arcata.
Redwoods struck first with a short touchdown run to go up 7–0 early. The Vikings quickly responded as Kalani McLeod connected with Jake Calcagno for a 7-yard score to even things up at 7–7.
The Corsairs briefly regained the lead with a 3-yard rushing touchdown, but McLeod's deep strike to Martis Ferguson (57 yards) tied the game again. Diablo Valley then seized momentum: McLeod found Khai Taylor from 10 yards out, and QB Jayden Macedo tossed a 17-yard touchdown to Ferrari Miller, pushing the Vikings ahead 28–14. Redwoods closed the half with a late touchdown, narrowing the score to 28–21.
The Vikings took control after halftime. McLeod continued his precise passing, hitting Taylor for another touchdown and later finding Jurrion Dickey on a 24-yard strike. Though a missed PAT and failed two-point conversion kept the score manageable, Diablo Valley's offense was relentless.
Macedo added to the attack in the fourth quarter with a 25-yard touchdown to Calcagno and a 21-yard scoring toss to Amani Elfadil. Redwoods managed one touchdown in the final frame, but the Vikings' balance and efficiency proved too much.
