Jones takes over as All-Time leading scorer at DVC, surpasses 1000 points

The Diablo Valley College Women's basketball team is currently in the No. 2 spot in the Big 8 Conference behind undefeated Sierra College. Since their Jan. 4th loss to the Wolverines, the Vikings have won the next five games and looking to continue that streak this week when they take on Modesto Junior College and Cosumnes River College.

Last week, the Vikings took on Delta College in a battle for 2nd place in the conference. Their 80-68 overtime win over the Mustangs was just about as dramatic as they come. The Vikings were down by 2 points with 4 seconds left when the ball was inbounded to Doris Jones, who drove to the key and dropped a pass down low to Kendra Jeuitt to send the game to overtime. It was all Vikings in OT, outscoring the Mustangs 14-2. Jones finished game high 35 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jahnay Anderson also had a great game for the Vikes, hitting 3 three's and scoring 13 points. Kendra Jeuitt came up big on the boards for the Vikings, totaling 13 rebounds on the night and Chantelle Greer finished with 12 rebounds. The win gave the Vikings sole position of 2nd place in the Big 8.

In the first game of the 2nd half of conference play, the Vikings defeated Santa Rosa Junior College, 75-61. During the game, Doris Jones became the all-time leading scorer at DVC when she put up 28 against the Bear Cubs, while surpassing 1,000 points scored during her career at DVC, in just 51 games played. Kendra Jeuitt and Jordan Hobson also had big games for the Vikings, Jeuitt finishing with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Hobson finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
