Bio
Coach Amanda Ray competed for DVC XC and T&F during the 2008-2009 seasons before transferring to the University of Hawaii, Manoa to complete her bachelor’s in political science with a minor in Spanish. She competed with the Rainbow Wahine for cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track for the 2008-2011 seasons.
Before heading to Newcastle University in the UK for her master’s in international politics, she first connected with Coach Pierson to mentor the athletes at DVC for the 2012 and 2013 T&F seasons, providing additional guidance on tackling the process and dedication to be a student-athlete from a community college through to a four-year university.
After schooling, Coach Ray ran competitively for West Valley Track Club (SF) and Brooklyn Track Club (NY) to learn a new side of running. She competed in road races ranging from the mile to the marathon; her favorite distance being the 10 Mile.
Now back home in California, Coach Ray returns to her roots at DVC assisting Coach Pierson for the 2025 XC season.
