Vikings Finish 3rd in Fresno City College Tournament

The Women's Basketball team competed in their 3rd tournament of the 2017-2018 season at Fresno City College, December 8-10. The Vikings opened the tournament with a 100-45 win over Mission College. The Vikings were led by 22 at the half and kept the momentum in the 2nd half, outscoring the Saints by 33 in the 2nd half. The Vikes held the Saints to just 6 points in the 4th quarter. The Vikings were led by Kendra Jeuitt who scored 22 points and 10 rebounds. Doris Jones had 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Chantell Greer had an impressive game for the Vikes as well, recording a career high 14 points and 7 rebounds. 

The Vikings faced Merced College in the semifinal game of the tournament. The Blue Devils defeated the Vikes, 71-65. The Vikings had a 38-34 lead at the half but were out scored by 15 to open the second half. The Vikings fought back in the 4th quarter, but it wasn't enough to finish with the win. DVC was led by Doris Jones who finished with 23 points, she was 8-16 from the floor with 1 three, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Antuanisha Wright scored 16 points, she also hit 2 three's and finished with 5 rebounds. Kendra Jeuitt finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds. 

The Vikings faced San Jose City College in the 3rd place game of the tournament, defeating the Jags, 74-54. Coming off the loss to Merced, the Vikings were looking to come hard vs. SJCC and it showed. The Vikings outscored the Jags in all 4 quarters, to finish the tournament strong. The Vikings were led by Doris Jones, who scored 17 points, she was 8-15 from the floor, and finished the game with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Jordan Hobson finished the game with 16 points, she hit 2 thee's and finished the game with 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Jahnay Anderson had an impressive for the Vikings as well, scoring 15 points, all of which were from behind the arch. Anderson finished with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. 

The Vikings are currently 7-3 on the season and open Big 8 Conference play vs. Santa Rosa Junior College at 5:30 next Wednesday, December 20th.
