Men's Basketball takes 4th in the West Valley Tournament

The Diablo Valley College Men's Basketball team finished 4th in the West Valley Tournament December 14-16th. This was the Vikings 4th tournament and last non-conference match up before Big 8 Conference play begins tomorrow. 

DVC defeated the Monterey Peninsula College, 71-57 in game one of the tournament. DVC was down by 9 at the half but put up a 54 point second half to finish the game strong. Steven Daily led the Vikings in scoring with 20 points, he was 7-11 from the floor with one three, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Victor Mijas also had a great game for the Vikes, scoring 15 points. Mijas was 6-13 from the field with one three, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Demarre Walker scored 13 points, and was 6-12 from the field with 6 assists and 2 steals. Brandynn Manning scored 12 points for the Vikes with one one three and 3 assists. Ben Wood had a solid game on the boards for the Vikes with 9 rebounds. 

DVC lost to Foothill 50-68 in the tournament semifinal game of the tournament. The Vikes were up by 4 at the half but the Owls put up 51 points in the 2nd half, which was too much for the Vikings to catch up. DVC was led by Victor Mijas, who scored 12 points in the loss. He was 5-15 from the field with two three's and 9 rebounds. Steven Daily also had a solid game for the Vikes with 8 points and 9 rebounds. 

In the 3rd place game on Saturday, DVC lost to tournament host West Valley, 54-70.
