DVC Athletics Update Week of 9/23- 9/30
Women’s Soccer continued Big 8 Conference play Tuesday with a 11-0 win vs. Sacramento City College. The Vikings then headed to Folsom Lake College where they lost to the Falcons by a score of 2-0.  DVC Women’s Soccer is HOME tomorrow (10/3) at 3:30 when they take on Modesto Junior College.  The Vikings head to Sierra College on Friday to take on the Wolverines at 4:30pm.
 
Women’s Water Polo continued Big 8 play with a 16-3 loss at Sierra College. The Vikings are HOME on Wednesday when they take on the American River Beavers at 5pm in the pool.
 
Men’s Water Polo head to Mission Viejo on Thursday to compete in the Saddleback College Tournament. The Vikings finished the weekend with a 2-2 record losing to Saddleback 11-5, El Camino 14-10 and beating Santa Monica 11-8 and Merced 10-8. The Vikings are HOME on Wednesday when they host American River College on at 3:30pm and head back down to Southern California this weekend to the Riverside Tournament.  
 
Women’s Volleyball continued Big 8 Conference play with a loss to San Joaquin Delta College in 3 sets, 25-11, 25-14, & 25-12. The Vikings fell to American River College on Friday in 4 sets, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 & 29-27. DVC Volleyball is headed to Sacramento City College on Wednesday to take on the Panthers at 6:30pm and are HOME this FRIDAY, October 8th when they host Cosumnes River College at 6:30pm.
 
Men’s & Women’s Cross Country competed in the Modesto Junior College Invitational on Friday. The Men's team won their 3rd Invitational this season placing 1st Kevin Orellana, 3rd Luis Ramirez, 6th Jordan Brandtell, 8th JJ Perez, 11th Ata Ozmen, 16th Parker Shields, 23rd Solen Tadesse, 27th Ben Schoffstall & 45th Edgar Salazar. The Women's XC team had 3 top 25 finishes; Jessica Mendez finished 5th, Alyssa Clark finished 13th, and Ariana Gonzalez finished 16th.  Both teams head to Toro Park in Salinas to compete in the Toro Park Invitational. 
 
Football defeated San Joaquin Delta College 31-30 on Saturday in another thrilling ending. DVC was winning at half-time 25-14 but were held scoreless in the 3rd quarter. The Vikings were down by 5 when Matt Vitale threw the winning touchdown pass to Cameron Norfleet with 19 seconds left. DVC Football has a bye this week and is headed to San Francisco Saturday, October 14th, to take on San Francisco City College at 1pm.
