Former Diablo Valley College head coach Mike Neu has accepted the head coaching position at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. UOP announced Monday that Neu has been hired as the 17th head baseball coach in program history. At DVC, Neu (2009-11) won two Big 8 Conference titles to go along with an 87-41 record. His 2011 team was ranked #1 for four weeks in the CCCBCA poll, while his pitching staff led the state with a 2.13 ERA. Neu left DVC after being hired by UC Berkeley as their pitching coach, where he remained the last four years.
Neu has spent time as a pitcher and associate scout in Major League Baseball, a community college head coach, and most recently, Cal’s pitching coach. Coach Neu is originally from Napa, CA where he attended Vintage High School and played Community College Baseball at Sacramento City College where he was named the 1998 Nor-Cal Pitcher of the year, Bay Valley Pitcher of the Year, and the 1998 CCCAA Final Four Most Valuable Player. In 1999 Mike transferred to University of Miami where the Miami Hurricanes won the NCAA Division 1 Championship in 1999.
